The Family Photography Session for AUTHENTIC moments of your real life and memories
You know all those fun, playful family moments in between your family portraits? That’s what my Documentary Sessions capture.
It’s as low key as a home hang out in the backyard or at your favorite park. It’s playing ball in the backyard, peek-a-boo in the house, or a good old board game together.
We’ll brainstorm your family’s favorite things to do together and come up with a plan to capture them!
These are NOT traditional family portraits, but they capture amazing family moments. And I’m always happy to do a few posed portraits for you at the start or end of our session.
Picture perfect or perfectly YOU?!

You can stay at home and come as you are. You don’t need to pose, talk to me, chit chat, or even look at the camera ever if you don’t want to. It doesn’t get much easier than that. It’s great for littles and adults who really don’t enjoy having pictures taken.

Are these family portraits?
They are not traditional family portraits where you dress up and find a beautiful location. They are more like portraits of your every day family life. You can come as you are and take pictures in a more meaningful place with meaningful activities.
Is this the right fit for my family?
Do you love photos that just feel authentic and unique? Do you prefer photos that are all about your relationships and personality? I think that’s what comes out in these sessions. If you prefer to be dressed up, at the perfect angle, in the most beautiful place then I’d recommend my traditional portraits instead. My traditional portraits still include candid images as well.
What kind of images can we expect?
You can expect a broad range of images that tell your story. It might include pictures of where you live, what your family likes doing together, your relationships, personalities, and even a few traditional portraits too if you’d like.
What do you do with these images?
Families like to make photo albums with them. I offer custom designed photo albums and options to create prints for your home.
How are these different from iPhone photos?
I have fifteen years experience creating family photos, and you’ll have an expert eye taking your images and creating artistic compositions. If you do share a love of photography and have a great eye then I would say that the advantage of hiring me is that now YOU will be in your family’s photos too! Ideally, you’ll have a collection of beautiful images that include your entire family in the images.

How does it work?

2 | Next, your family will enjoy time spent together. I'll capture it with zero requests or demands. Just enjoy family time! *If you would like a few posed portraits I'm happy to provide those at the end. |
3 | After a week, you'll receive your gallery of images to keep. You don't need to pick and choose images. You'll receive what I've chosen to be the best storytelling images of your time together. |
4 | I hope you choose to create an album and prints for your wall. I'd be delighted to design a custom album and help you select images that belong on your wall. I can also help you print them directly through me and receive them ready to hang. If you'd prefer to create your own album and prints I'm also happy to advise on options. |
